Role Overview
The Senior Manager– Project Finance will be a key member of the project execution team, managing financial modelling, fundraising support, internal approvals, and coordination for project developments and refinancing. The role involves developing relationships with financial institutions, leading workstreams, and providing oversight and training to junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
· Build, audit, and maintain comprehensive financial models for large infrastructure projects (greenfield, brownfield, refinancing, acquisitions, divestments, and stake sales), ensuring compliance with project and financial agreements, and relevant accounting/taxation policies.
· Support fundraising activities, including structuring and negotiating with banks, export credit agencies, and other financial institutions; develop close relationships with financial institutions in assigned geographies.
· Conduct financial analysis, optimization, and business valuation to support business development and bid teams.
· Lead tax, accounting, due diligence, and modelling workstreams, collaborating with internal specialists and external advisors.
· Support economic analyses and financial structuring optimizations for existing operations, including annual impairment tests and look-back analyses.
· Prepare investment memoranda, internal reports, summaries, and presentations for investment decisions.
· Train and oversee Managers and interns in executing their responsibilities.
· Coordinate with transaction managers, business development, legal, techno-commercial, and project company teams to deliver on project objectives.
· Provide financial advisory, fundraising, and business valuation guidance to subsidiaries and support Board Audit Committees as required.
Communication & Working Relationships
· Internal: Work closely with Business Development, Projects Legal, Technology, and CFO Functions (specifically tax and accounting).
· External: Build rapport with banks, financial institutions, investors, equity partners, external consultants, rating agencies, and contractors.
Specific Qualifications, Experience & Skills
· Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Maths, or Engineering.
· Preference for higher degrees such as MBA, CA, CFA.
Minimum Experience:
· 4–6 years of experience in the project finance group of a development organization, bank, or other financial institution.
· Experience with developers, banks, financial advisory service providers, or consultants with a proven track record in building and managing financial models is mandatory.
· Knowledge of project finance is necessary.
Skills:
· Strong communicator with the ability to effectively negotiate and influence investors and lenders.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
