Job Overview
The Purchasing Officer will be responsible for overseeing purchasing activities, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring efficient procurement operations. This is a full-time, mid-level position based in Chennai and requires 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience in procurement or purchasing.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in purchase management with the ability to oversee end-to-end purchasing operations, including vendor selection, order placement, and order tracking (Mandatory skill).
- Strong working knowledge of SAP Procurement modules with hands-on experience in creating and managing purchase orders, requisitions, and reports.
- Proficiency in procurement processes including sourcing, evaluation, and negotiation with suppliers to ensure the best terms and cost savings for the company.
- Sound understanding of logistics management principles, coordinating with logistics teams and vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.
- Advanced negotiation skills to secure optimal pricing and contract terms while maintaining strong supplier relationships for long-term collaboration.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining procurement budgets, tracking spending, and identifying cost reduction opportunities aligned with company objectives.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining procurement records, tracking inventory levels, and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage the complete purchase cycle from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish agreements for the supply of goods and services at competitive rates.
- Utilize SAP Procurement for purchase order processing, supplier management, and generation of procurement reports for management review.
- Coordinate with the logistics team and suppliers to monitor order fulfillment and resolve delivery, quality, or invoicing issues promptly.
- Monitor market trends and conduct price analysis to identify opportunities for cost reductions and process improvements.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate procurement documentation and supplier records for auditing and compliance purposes.
- Implement and monitor procurement budgets, reporting variances and ensuring adherence to financial controls and targets.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to forecast procurement needs and ensure uninterrupted supply of materials and services.
