A live sound engineer typically has a wide range of responsibilities:

  Ensuring that equipment is properly maintained and calibrated to ensure optimal performance

  Determining whether special equipment such as wireless microphones or in-ear monitors are needed for performers during a concert or performance

  Mixing audio tracks during live performances or recording sessions to create a final product that sounds good to the audience

  Operating sound equipment during live performances, including mixing music and announcements, controlling lights and special effects, and operating sound effects devices such as a turntable or synthesizer

  Ensuring that the venue has adequate acoustics to support the performance, such as installing acoustic panels or applying soundproofing materials to walls or ceilings

Live sound engineers need the following skills in order to be successful:
