Job Description:

An Academic Advisor’s responsibilities include overseeing new student orientation, helping students choose classes, and helping students determine their strengths. 

Ultimately, you will work directly with students to help them understand their educational options and help guide them throughout their academic careers.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience in student counseling and academic planning
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills
• Knowledge of educational programs and advising techniques
• Ability to build rapport with students and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or related field preferred
• Identifying student strengths and weaknesses
• Maintaining updated reports on student progress
• Intervening if behavioral or academic abnormalities occur
• Connecting students with resources, such as counselors or tutors
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of institutional policies

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide academic guidance and counseling to students in line with educational objectives
• Assist students in academic planning and course selection based on their goals and abilities
• Support students in resolving academic challenges and developing effective study habits
• Stay updated on educational programs, curriculum requirements, and university admissions processes
• Utilize advising techniques to help students achieve academic success and personal growth
• Proven work experience as an Academic Advisor or similar role communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain accurate and updated records concerning student performance
• Understanding of institutional policies, procedures, and resources
• A desire to help students in their academic journey, from enrollment to graduation relevant training and/or certifications as an Academic Advisor
