The Centre opened to the public with the Jio World Convention Centre and the Fountain of Joy at Dhirubhai Ambani Square in early 2022. ​ The Jio World Centre is strategically located in Mumbai’s vibrant business and cultural hub of Bandra Kurla Complex. This centre has been developed with an international design vocabulary, while honouring the culture and spirit of India.


Purpose of The Role

The incumbent is responsible to manage Legal activities of Jio World Centre (JWC) including, however not limited to drafting contracts, legal research, guidance, compliances, risk mitigation and adherence to regulatory obligations, aligned with business goals. 


Job Accountabilities


Legal advisory and support 

  • Responsible to draft, review and negotiate contracts, legal documents and agreements with various stakeholders, including, however not limited to, management operator, customers, vendors and agencies.
  • Prepare legal agreements and correspondence as per business requirements.
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance and protect the organization's legal and financial interests.
  • Manage real estate transactions practically and independently and liaise with external Counsel as necessary.
  • Handle litigations before the RERA Tribunal & Appellate RERA Tribunal, State and National Consumer Courts, High Court, City Civil Court, Sessions & Magistrate Courts, NCLT.
  • Keep track of laws governing the business, to stay informed about changes in evolving legal standards and practices.
  • Maintain accurate legal records, ensure timely preparation of MIS and reporting documents to the management.
  • Monitor updates on the business’s legal portal and ensure complete disclosure and information to stakeholders.
  • Participate in projects / committees as per requirement to provide legal advice and guidance to businesses / functions in JWC.
  • Conduct due diligence pertaining to all legal aspects as per applicability.  
  • Conduct legal research for appropriate actions and decisions on litigation matters.
  • Advice the Business Development / Leasing teams on agreements related to leasing of spaces and license terms.
  • Work with internal teams to comprehend legal needs and ensure activities are legally sound


Legal risk mitigation

  • Identify, assess and develop strategies to mitigate legal risks and safeguard the organization’s reputation and operations.
  • Collaborate with business teams / functions for documentation pertaining to audits and compliances.
  • Ensure legal governance to manage risks connected with and / or resulting from business units.
  • Ensure that all regulatory filings meet regulation requirements by rendering qualitative legal support.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable laws and internal policies as per industry standards.
  • Collaborate with central RIL team and external agencies to mitigate / address legal risks


Education Qualifications

  • LLB degree from a reputed Law school.
  • Post-Graduation, relevant to the field of work is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of the Real Estate industry, producers and distributors


Experience

  • At least 10+ years of relevant work experience in the field.
  • Work experience in Entertainment industry/media agency is preferred


Functional Skills

  • Experience in drafting contracts
  • Experience in real estate compliances and International Laws.
  • Well-versed with laws relating to RERA and MOFA with experience in RERA registrations, filings and compliances
  • Knowledge of the Maharashtra Stamp Act, Indian Registration Act, Transfer of Property Act, Contract Act and similar property laws is a must
  • Ability to conduct thorough legal research
  • Expertise in managing legal documents and records
