This centre has been developed with an international design vocabulary, while honouring the culture and spirit of India.


Purpose of The Role

The Stage Automation Engineer is jointly responsible for all technical aspects of NMACC’s automated stage systems. The role requires close coordination with the core technical team and production staff and involves supporting show and rehearsal operations as directed by NMACC management.


Job Accountabilities


Technical Maintenance & Supervision

  • Supervise, manage, and maintain:
  • Stage Automation System
  • Fly Bar System
  • Platform Lifts
  • Chain Motors
  • Winch Systems
  • Wire Tension Grid System
  • Rigging accessories across NMACC venues


Operational Duties

  • Execute automation-related work for productions and rehearsals.
  • Routine Inspections maintenance of systems, maintaining spare inventory and support general stage and auditorium maintenance.
  • Develop operational procedures considering safety, quality, and environmental standards for management approval.
  • Supervise outsourced technicians, ensure compliance with best industry practices and NMACC HSE guidelines.
  • Support refurbishment and small-scale engineering projects as assigned.
  • Provide periodic maintenance reports and incident documentation.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets time, safety, and cost standards


Event & Venue Support

  • Provide technical support for events and functions, including work outside standard hours when required.
  • Coordinate with other venue teams for performance readiness, including manual handling tasks on stage.
  • Assist other departments as needed


Safety & Compliance

  • Respond to incidents involving damage, loss, fire, theft, or irregularities and complete required reports.
  • Ensure compliance with NMACC procedures related to safety, quality, and environmental policies.
  • Ensure compliance by all supervised personnel


Training

  • Provide training to staff and interns to maintain competence and safety awareness.
  • Support skill development and ensure adherence to work standards


General Duties

  • System upkeep: Inspect, calibrate, and maintain automation machinery, PLCs, sensors, actuators, and mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and software faults and minimize downtime.
  • Preventive maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance and update CMMS logs.
  • System integration: Support installation, commissioning, and retrofitting of automation equipment.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate schematics, mechanical layouts, and maintenance records.
  • Safety compliance: Ensure all equipment meets electrical, mechanical, and machine safety standards.
  • Continuous improvement: Analyse performance and recommend upgrades or process improvements.
  • Spare parts management: Track and manage spares to avoid downtime.
  • Root cause analysis: Investigate failures and implement corrective actions


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience

OR

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with minimum 7 years of experience

OR

  • 15+ years verified Performing Arts industry experience with relevant technical certifications from recognized bodies


Skills

  • Strong knowledge of electromechanical control systems including relay logic, sensors, actuators, VFDs, and servo drives.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider preferred).
  • Knowledge of rigging systems, truss structures, and load systems (with rigging certification from recognise institutes).
  • Skilled in reading P&IDs, ladder logic, and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with predictive and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Instrumentation calibration and loop checking experience.
  • Knowledge of networking and signal distribution in automation environments.
  • Proficient in risk assessment, load calculations, and system safety.
  • Comfortable working at heights and performing physically demanding tasks (working-at-height certification preferred)
