Purpose of The Role
The Engineer – Electrical Engineering is responsible for leading the operation, maintenance, safety, and statutory compliance of all electrical systems within the facility. The role ensures uninterrupted power availability, optimal performance of electrical infrastructure, energy efficiency, and adherence to engineering and safety standards. The incumbent will manage electrical teams, vendors, and service delivery to support reliable and safe facility operations.
Job Accountabilities
Electrical Operations & Asset Management
- Oversee uninterrupted operation of all electrical systems including HT/LT substations, DG sets, UPS, inverters, power distribution panels, transformers in large capacity, CC breakers and emergency power systems
- Ensure effective electrical interfaces with utility and process systems such as pumps, STP, WTP, OWC, and HNS to support continuous operations
- Plan and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize breakdowns and downtime
- Ensure readiness and reliability of emergency power systems and seamless power changeovers
- Maintain electrical assets in line with design parameters, lifecycle expectations, and operational standards
Electrical Safety, EHS & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable electrical safety regulations, statutory requirements, and internal (RIL) EHS standards
- Enforce safe working practices, permit systems, isolation procedures, and use of PPE across all electrical activities
- Coordinate with statutory authorities for inspections, testing, certifications, and timely renewals
- Drive accident-free electrical operations and investigate electrical incidents, ensuring corrective and preventive actions.
Energy Management & Cost Optimization
- Monitor electrical energy consumption and implement initiatives to optimize energy efficiency and reduce operating costs
- Lead periodic energy audits and ensure closure of identified improvement actions
- Support preparation and control of electrical maintenance budgets, operational expenses, and cost forecasts.
Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead and manage electrical technicians & contractual manpower to ensure efficient service delivery
- Assign responsibilities, monitor performance ensuring adequate shift coverage for 24x7 operations
- Ensure structured training, competency mapping & periodic refresher programs for electrical team
- Mentor team members to build technical capability and succession readiness.
Vendor, OEM & Contract Management
- Manage electrical AMC and service contracts, ensuring SLA compliance and quality delivery
- Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for maintenance, servicing, breakdown resolution, and system improvements
- Review vendor performance, validate service reports, and drive timely closure of deficiencies
- Ensure proper gate pass, access control, and compliance with site protocols for vendor activities.
Process, SOP & Service Delivery Governance
- Ensure adherence to electrical SOPs, service delivery plans, escalation protocols, and incident reporting mechanisms
- Review electrical logbooks, checklists, maintenance schedules, and compliance records
- Ensure effective fault reporting, escalation, and root cause analysis for electrical failures
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to reliability, safety, and service delivery.
Stakeholder Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and department heads on electrical maintenance status, risks, and improvement plans
- Prepare and present electrical operations reports (daily, weekly, monthly) covering uptime, incidents, energy usage, and compliance
- Ensure accurate documentation and proper handover/takeover (HOTO) of electrical assets, drawings, manuals, and records
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Skills
- Strong expertise in HT/LT electrical systems, substations, DGs, UPS, and power distribution, large capacity transformers and CC breakers
- In-depth understanding of electrical safety standards, statutory compliance, and energy management
- Proven capability in managing electrical operations in large facilities such as convention centres, malls, hospitality, or mixed-use developments
- Experience in budget management, cost control, and lifecycle planning of electrical assets
- Strong leadership, team management, and vendor management skills
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Effective communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in computer-based maintenance, reporting, and documentation systems
Experience
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering operations and maintenance, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
