COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Envisioned by Nita M. Ambani and spread over 18.5 acres in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, the Jio World Centre is an iconic business, commerce, and cultural destination. A multifaceted development of its kind in India, it includes the musical Fountain of Joy, an upscale retail experience, a multivenue cultural centre, selection of cafés and fine dining restaurants, serviced apartments and offices, and one of India’s largest convention facilities – the Jio World Convention Centre. The Centre opened to the public with the Jio World Convention Centre and the Fountain of Joy at Dhirubhai Ambani Square in early 2022. ​ The Jio World Centre is strategically located in Mumbai’s vibrant business and cultural hub of Bandra Kurla Complex. This centre has been developed with an international design vocabulary, while honoring the culture and spirit of India.


JOB PURPOSE:

The Art Enthusiast is responsible for delivering an exceptional and immersive visitor experience across exhibitions at the Art House, NMACC. The role requires a strong understanding of artworks and curatorial narratives, serving as a knowledgeable and engaging representative of exhibitions. This position works closely with Curatorial and Guest Services Operations teams to ensure seamless daily operations and consistently elevated guest experiences.


KEY DELIVERABLES:

Visitor Engagement, Guided Tours & Group Management:

  • Welcome and assist guests by providing accurate exhibition information, directions, and contextual insights.
  • Conduct guided tours, curated walkthroughs, and special previews for VIPs, media, institutional groups, schools, colleges, art institutions, and general visitors.
  • Interpret artworks, themes, and curatorial narratives in an engaging and accessible manner for diverse audience profiles.
  • Assist Operations in coordinating bulk bookings, including scheduling, visitor flow planning, and on-ground group facilitation along with curated walkthroughs
  • Proactively engage visitors across gallery spaces while maintaining hospitality standards and cultural sensitivity.
  • Collect qualitative visitor insights and share structured feedback with Curatorial and Operations teams.
  • Maintain awareness of exhibition flow and guest experience dynamics to ensure seamless interactions.

Exhibition Research, Training & Knowledge Management:

  • Prepare structured exhibition notes, talking points, FAQs, presentation decks and quiz (Kahoot) based on curatorial briefs for upcoming exhibitions.
  • Coordinate with Curatorial teams to gather insights and translate them into simplified narratives for training the internal teams.
  • Develop and manage training calendars aligned with exhibition launch timelines.
  • Conduct structured training sessions and art-related briefings for Front-of-House (FOH) / Operations, and relevant teams.
  • Ensure consistent, accurate, and unified exhibition communication across all guest-facing departments.
  • Continuously enhance personal exhibition knowledge and actively participate in all training initiatives.

Workshops, Programming & Event Support:

  • Collaborate with Curatorial and Programming teams to research, conceptualize, and plan workshops aligned with exhibition themes.
  • Assist in end-to-end workshop logistics including scheduling, materials, space readiness, vendor coordination, and cross-functional communication.
  • Support execution and facilitation of workshops to ensure smooth participant engagement and operational efficiency.
  • Assist Programming in maintaining and updating guest lists for pre-opening events, pop-ups, and special programming initiatives.
  • Capture participant and guest feedback to support programming enhancement.

Gallery Operations, Installation Support & Condition Monitoring:

  • Conduct daily pre-opening, mid-day, and closing walkthroughs to ensure galleries are guest-ready and operationally compliant.
  • Prepare and implement opening and closing checklists covering gallery spaces, installations, AV equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with Operations to conduct daily gallery, artwork, and equipment checks.
  • Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, lighting, humidity, cleanliness) to ensure artwork preservation standards are consistently met.
  • Support artwork installation transitions and exhibition changeovers in coordination with Curatorial and Operations teams.
  • Maintain artwork condition reports and daily operational logs for future reference and compliance tracking.
  • Observe, document, and escalate operational, safety, technical, or conservation concerns as per established SOPs.
  • Maintain vigilance within gallery spaces to safeguard artworks while preserving a welcoming and accessible environment.
  • Adhere strictly to safety, fire, emergency, and artwork care protocols.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrates genuine enthusiasm for art and culture, with a proactive approach to deepening knowledge of exhibitions, artists, and curatorial narratives.
  • Strong service mindset with the ability to anticipate visitor needs, deliver personalized engagement, and consistently uphold premium hospitality standards.
  • Excellent verbal communication with the ability to articulate complex artistic concepts clearly and confidently to diverse audiences, including VIPs and institutional groups.
  • Proven ability to work seamlessly with Curatorial, Programming, Operations, and Visitor Services teams to ensure aligned messaging and smooth execution.
  • Maintains high grooming standards, adheres to organizational guidelines on uniform and presentation, and represents the institution with poise, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism.
  • Demonstrates strong observational skills, ensuring gallery readiness, artwork care compliance, and adherence to established SOPs.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, Art History, Visual Arts, Aesthetics, Museum Studies, Cultural Studies, Design, or related disciplines.
  • Postgraduate qualification or certification in Art History, Curatorial Practice, Museum Studies, or Cultural Management (preferred).
  • Additional certifications in public speaking, art appreciation, heritage interpretation, or audience engagement will be an advantage.


EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in museums, galleries, cultural institutions, art foundations, or premium guest-facing environments
  • Experience conducting guided tours, art interpretation sessions, workshops, or public engagement programs preferred
  • Familiarity with gallery operations, artwork handling protocols, and exhibition changeovers will be an added advantage.
