RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDES ALL TASKS):

1.      Database Operations: Contributes to development and enforces database administration and user access standards. Plays a key role in the execution of database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications and database replication between multiple Servers and remote sites ensuring high-availability and DR capability.

2.      Database Security: Administer all databases in a secure manner and control all associated risk by recommending and implementing proper controls and processes

3.      Capacity Planning and Proactive Monitoring: Install necessary proactive tools for monitoring capacity and performance and proactively avoid problems related to capacity of performance. 

4.      Project Management: When bestowed the responsibility, manage database related projects by following client laid down project management policies and methodologies.

5.      Vendor Management: Assist the section head in conducting regular meetings and introduce competent vendors/supplier to client for database to ensure CLIENT is always getting good value-for-money for its investment.

6.      Collaboration and Teamwork: Interact with internal customers and ascertain their requirements to ensure that a reliable database systems environment is provided so that the application can meet the required operating levels

6.      Continuous Improvement: Researches and implements new database and online technology. Keeps updated on relevant IT developments in order to act as a source of technical expertise within and outside the Department to provide advice and guidance to business users and Department staff members.

7.      New Database Technology: Research and suggest the adoption of new databases and possible migration to a different database (possibly MS SQL or Oracle) to increase efficiency, DR capability and reduce cost.
