Rehabilitation Counselor Job Description
As a Rehabilitation Counselor, your main responsibility will be to assist clients in overcoming physical, mental, and emotional barriers by providing guidance, counseling, and support. You will assess clients' needs, create individualized rehabilitation plans, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate the necessary services. Additionally, you will advocate for clients' rights and ensure they have access to appropriate resources and opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessments to determine clients' needs and goals
- Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans
- Provide counseling and guidance to clients to address emotional and psychological challenges
- Assist clients in developing daily living skills, such as personal hygiene, housekeeping, and meal preparation
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, such as physicians, psychologists, and occupational therapists, to coordinate services
- Advocate for clients' rights and participate in discharge planning
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of clients' progress and treatment plans
- Stay current with advancements in rehabilitation counseling practices and techniques
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or related field
- State licensure or certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or impairments
- Knowledge of disability laws and regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
