Recreation Therapist Job Description
As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a crucial role in the overall healthcare team by providing therapeutic recreational activities to support the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of patients. Your main goal will be to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and help them develop important life skills.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to determine patient interests, needs, and abilities
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results
- Plan and implement recreational therapy programs, including games, sports, arts and crafts, music, and outdoor activities
- Work with patients to set goals and track progress
- Evaluate the effectiveness of therapy programs and make adjustments as needed
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field
- Certification as a Recreation Therapist
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic recreational activities
