Occupational Therapist Assistant Job Description

As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will work closely with occupational therapists to help patients regain independence and perform daily activities. You will assist in implementing treatment plans, monitoring progress, and providing support and encouragement to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluating patients' abilities, strengths, and limitations
  • Implement treatment plans under the guidance of an occupational therapist
  • Supervise and support patients during therapy sessions
  • Teach patients how to use adaptive equipment and assistive devices
  • Monitor and document patients' progress and adjustments to treatment plans
  • Assist in educating patients and their families on therapy techniques and home exercises
  • Maintain a clean and organized therapy environment
  • Collaborate with the occupational therapist and healthcare team to ensure effective patient care

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Valid state license or certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Empathy and patience towards patients
