Mechanical Drafter Job Description
As a Mechanical Drafter, you will work closely with engineers and designers to transform engineering designs and specifications into detailed technical drawings. Your drawings will be used for construction, fabrication, and installation of mechanical devices and equipment. You will utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce accurate and precise drawings.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed technical drawings and blueprints based on engineering designs and specifications
- Ensure the drawings are accurate, complete, and conform to industry standards
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to clarify design requirements
- Make necessary revisions to drawings as directed by engineers
- Utilize CAD software to create 2D and 3D models
- Perform calculations and analysis to verify design specifications
- Produce bills of materials and documentation for manufacturing processes
- Maintain organized and up-to-date drawing files and records
Qualifications
- Associate degree or certificate in Mechanical Drafting or a related field
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Drafter or similar role
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to interpret engineering designs and specifications
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and components
- Good communication and collaboration skills
