Legal Secretary Job Description

As a Legal Secretary, you will be responsible for preparing legal documents, maintaining case files, scheduling appointments, and managing correspondence. You will also assist with research and analysis, as well as perform other administrative tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, draft, and proofread legal documents such as contracts, agreements, and pleadings
  • Maintain and organize case files, including correspondence, pleadings, and exhibits
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments, meetings, and court hearings
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including email and postal mail
  • Assist attorneys with legal research and analysis
  • Handle client inquiries and communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, copying, and data entry

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar role
  • Proficient in legal terminology, procedures, and documentation
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of legal research tools and databases
