Legal Assistant Job Description

As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing legal documents, maintaining case files, conducting legal research, and assisting with client communication. You will work closely with our attorneys to support their day-to-day activities and ensure the smooth operation of our legal department.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, and agreements.
  • Maintain and organize case files, including electronic and hard-copy records.
  • Perform legal research and provide summaries of findings to attorneys.
  • Assist with client communication, including scheduling appointments and answering inquiries.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Draft correspondence and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Manage attorney calendars and ensure timely filing of documents and deadlines.
  • Conduct factual investigations and gather supporting evidence for legal cases.
  • Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings.
  • Provide administrative support, such as filing, copying, and data entry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or relevant role.
  • Familiarity with legal document preparation and case management software.
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
