Laboratory Technician Job Description
As a Laboratory Technician, you will be working under the supervision of scientists or technologists, and your main tasks will include preparing samples, operating laboratory equipment, recording and analyzing data, and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies. You will be expected to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Responsibilities
- Prepare samples, solutions, and reagents for laboratory analysis
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines in all laboratory processes
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as microscopes, centrifuges, and spectrophotometers
- Conduct scientific experiments and analyses, record and interpret data
- Assist in the development and improvement of new products or processes
- Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste and adherence to environmental regulations
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all laboratory procedures, results, and observations
- Participate in laboratory meetings and collaborate with other team members
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry)
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting preferred
- Knowledge of laboratory safety guidelines and best practices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing laboratory procedures
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to follow strict protocols and adhere to deadlines
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
