ITI Instrument Technician Job Description
As an ITI Instrument Technician, you will be responsible for installing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of instruments and control systems used in various industries. You will work closely with engineers and other technicians to ensure the proper operation and functionality of these systems.
Responsibilities
- Install, test, and commission instruments and control systems according to specifications
- Calibrate and troubleshoot various types of instruments, including pressure, temperature, level, flow, and analytical instruments
- Diagnose and repair faults in control systems, such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)
- Perform preventive maintenance activities to ensure the optimal performance of instruments and control systems
- Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to identify and implement improvements to instrumentation and control systems
- Document maintenance and repair activities, including troubleshooting steps, component replacements, and test results
Qualifications
- ITI certification in Instrumentation or equivalent
- Proven experience as an Instrument Technician in an industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles and control systems
- Proficiency in reading electrical and P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) drawings
- Ability to use calibration equipment and software
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards and procedures
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
Skills
- Knowledge of PLC programming
- Experience with HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems
- Understanding of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems
- Familiarity with DCS (Distributed Control Systems)
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and software
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
