Environmental Health Safety Manager Job Description

As an Environmental Health Safety Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating potential hazards in the workplace, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks, and promoting a culture of safety among employees. You will also manage health and safety inspections, investigate accidents and incidents, and provide recommendations for improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures to minimize workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on occupational health and safety best practices.
  • Implement and manage safety training programs for employees.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and analyze root causes to develop corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and protocols.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements to enhance workplace safety.
  • Stay up-to-date on applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to environmental health and safety.
  • Prepare and submit reports on safety performance and compliance to regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an Environmental Health Safety Manager or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Certifications in relevant safety and environmental management systems (e.g., OSHA, ISO 14001) preferred.
