Agricultural Inspector Job Description
The Agricultural Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of agricultural products. They conduct inspections and surveys to identify and prevent the spread of diseases and pests, as well as to ensure the proper use of pesticides, fertilizers, and agricultural practices. They provide guidance and support to farmers, conduct investigations in response to complaints, and maintain detailed records of their findings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of farms, agricultural facilities, and equipment to enforce regulatory standards and identify compliance issues
- Evaluate agricultural practices and processes to ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations
- Monitor the use and application of pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals to protect crops and prevent pollution
- Inspect and test agricultural products for quality, contamination, and compliance with grading standards
- Investigate complaints and reports of violations, gather evidence, and issue warnings or citations as needed
- Provide guidance and support to farmers on best practices for crop production, disease prevention, and pest control
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, biology, or a related field
