Department: Supply Chain Management (SCM)

Location: Chennai

Reporting to: General Manager

Job Summary

The Supply Chain Manager/Executive will be responsible for managing and optimizing the supply chain processes, ensuring timely procurement, inventory control, logistics, and vendor management. The role involves coordinating with suppliers, production, and warehouse teams to maintain efficient operations, reduce costs, and improve supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement & Vendor Management

· Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure the best quality and cost.

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors for long-term collaboration.

· Monitor supplier performance based on quality, cost, and timely delivery.

· Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards in procurement.

2. Inventory & Material Management

· Maintain optimal inventory levels to support production needs without overstocking.

· Implement inventory tracking systems to monitor stock movement and reduce waste.

· Coordinate with warehouse teams for efficient material storage and retrieval.

· Conduct periodic stock audits and reconcile discrepancies.

3. Logistics & Distribution

· Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods.

· Collaborate with transporters and logistics partners for smooth operations.

· Optimize transportation costs while maintaining efficiency in supply chain operations.

· Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for transportation and distribution.

5. Cost Optimization & Process Improvement

· Identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement in supply chain processes.

· Implement best practices in procurement, logistics, and inventory management.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives like lean supply chain techniques.

 

6. Compliance & Documentation

· Maintain accurate records of procurement, inventory, and logistics activities.

· Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements in supply chain operations.

· Prepare reports on supply chain performance metrics for management review.

 

Key Skills & Competencies

· Strong knowledge of procurement, inventory, and logistics management.

· Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.

· Proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain management software.

· Analytical and problem-solving abilities to optimize supply chain operations.

· Effective communication and coordination skills.

· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

 

Qualifications & Experience

· Education: Bachelor of Mech/ EEE/ Civil, BSC or a related field.

Experience: 10 years in SCM roles within a manufacturing environment
