§&nbsp;Implement the highest possible standard of client care by participating in setting up of the hospital standard protocols and guidelines. §&nbsp;Ensure quality critical care services for new born infants (NICU) §&nbsp;Provide leadership and direction as well as implementation of hospital objectives within the maternity units§&nbsp;Motivate and empower staff to perform to their optimum §&nbsp;Participate in the budget process and manage inventory of all equipment, linen, supplies and other items within the maternity unit §&nbsp;Effective monitoring and evaluation of patients admitted in the maternity ward. §&nbsp;&nbsp;Administer medication and perform medical procedures within prevailing Hospital guidelines and protocols. §&nbsp;Ensure an outstanding client experience. §&nbsp;Counsel and prepare mothers for labor, childbirth and postpartum. §&nbsp;Monitor and manage pregnant mothers during labor and childbirth.§&nbsp;Assist in performing deliveries when need be §&nbsp;Provide care for mothers and new-born after birth. §&nbsp;Educate and support mothers in breastfeeding and care of the new-born. §&nbsp;Follow through investigations and procedures ordered by doctors during ward rounds. checkups from the corporates§&nbsp;Provide comprehensive client counselling e.g., reproductive health, HIV, PMTCT, vaccination, pap smear &amp; cancer screening amongst other services.

The primary role of a nurse is to advocate and care for individuals and support them through health and illness. However, there are various other responsibilities of a nurse that form a part of the role of a nurse, including to:&nbsp;Major Accountabilities:<ul><li>Provide direct care to assigned patients. </li><li>Take the nursing history, summarize data, and state nursing diagnoses/patient care needs.</li><li>Observe and record signs, symptoms, and behaviors, including the physiological status of patients; present the assessment of changes, the proposed revision of interventions, and desired outcomes.</li><li>Follow policy for activating an individualized plan of care for newly admitted patients. </li><li>Deliver designated nursing interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with the stated medical plan of care.</li><li>Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures, and assist others with patient's activities and care.</li><li>Execute physician's orders for all assigned patients; safely and properly administers medications and treatments. </li><li>Notify appropriate nursing and medical staff to changes in the patient's status. </li><li>Independently perform duties and assume responsibility for care of assigned patients. </li><li>Perform techniques and routines in the specialty service area. </li><li>Perform or assist others to perform proper aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, and infection control measures. </li><li>Document nursing care in all assigned patient records. </li><li>Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times. </li><li>Evaluate care given including the patient response.</li></ul>
