Position Details:

Job Role: Electrical Protection Engineer 

Experience Required : 12+ Years in oil and gas sector of which at least 8 years must have been as protection engineer. 

➢ Previous working experience in power plants is an advantage.

➢ Working knowledge of electrical safety rules, switching programs& PTW regulations.

➢ Experienced in inspection and testing of LV& HV switchgear AIS& GIS.

➢ Experience in using relays & switchgear testing equipment such as CMC356, Fluke power analyser, and CPC100.

➢ Experienced in testing of protection relays& breakers trip units (ABB, Siemens, Eaton, GEC, Alstom, Schneider, Terasaki, SI motor manager) such as (RET, REF, REM, REG, 7UM, 7UT, 7SJ, 7SK, 7RW, 7SD, MCGG, MICOM, 1150I).

➢ Experienced with protection coordination software& relays software (ETAP/Dig silent, DIGSI, PCM, Test universe.etc)

➢ A good team worker, able to communicate well in English.

➢ Ability to both mentor and coach the Electrical Technicians/ engineers for protection relays testing basics.

➢ Knowledge with ERP system& office applications

Qualifications: BE/BTech in Electrical Engineering

Role Summary:  

➢ Carry out routine testing of existing LV& HV protection relays& switchgear according to maintenance strategy.

➢ Provide technical support for testing& commissioning of new relays as required.

➢ Participate in fault diagnosis& trouble shooting activities for protection relays / switchgear.

➢ Collaborate with other engineers and technical staff to implement protection strategies.

➢ Develop and maintain documentation related to protection systems.

➢ Update existing database & download protection relays setting.

➢ Provide On the job training to OLNG team as per plan.

➢ Participate in the planning and execution of system upgrades and improvements.

➢ Schedule the plan for testing all relays in the plant as per maintenance strategy and on time.

➢ Update protection relays setting data base and maintain latest relays back up on OLNG laptop. ➢ Contribute by personal involvement and coaching at all levels in establishing a culture based on technical transparency.

➢ Minimize mean time to repair failures and maximise mean time between failures of electrical protection equipment.
