Job Title: Civil & Structural Designer

Location: Chennai

Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Civil & Structural Designer with strong expertise in 3D modeling and detailing of industrial structures using Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, and MicroStation. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in Structural Steel & RCC detailing, including the extraction and preparation of high-quality construction drawings. The role requires strong interdisciplinary coordination, quality assurance, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Civil & Structural 3D Modeling & Drawing Preparation:

• Develop 3D models of industrial structures such as process buildings, non-process buildings, pipe racks, foundations, platforms, and equipment supports using Tekla and Revit.
• Perform structural steel detailing, including connection details, fabrication drawings, and shop drawings.
• Create Reinforced Concrete (RCC) detailing, including formwork, reinforcement bar bending schedules, and foundation layouts.
• Work with AutoCAD & MicroStation to produce accurate 2D RCC and Structural Steel drawings for construction.
• Extract 2D drawings from 3D models and format them into deliverables as per project requirements.

2. Structural & RCC Detailing:

• Prepare detailed RCC drawings including foundation plans, beam-column layouts, slab reinforcement details, shear wall details, and staircase designs.
• Generate bar bending schedules (BBS) and material take-offs ensuring compliance with international standards.
• Develop structural steel detailing, including member sizes, bolt/weld connections, bracing, and truss details.
• Ensure clash detection and model integrity using Navisworks Manage or similar software.
• Adhere to project-specific standards and ensure all structural drawings meet engineering specifications and quality guidelines.

3. Coordination & Quality Control:

• Work closely with structural engineers to interpret design requirements and ensure accuracy in modeling and detailing.
• Conduct interdisciplinary coordination with piping, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Perform self-checks and peer reviews to maintain high-quality deliverables.
• Assist in resolving design conflicts and RFIs (Request for Information) during project execution.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior designers when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5 to 7 years of experience in Civil & Structural 3D modeling and detailing.
• Proficiency in Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, and MicroStation for RCC and Structural Steel detailing.
• Experience in 2D drawing extraction from 3D models and preparing deliverables.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel detailing, connection designs, and RCC reinforcement detailing.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, IS, BS, Eurocodes).
• Hands-on experience in working on Brownfield projects and interpreting laser scan data.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Added Advantage):

• Working experience with additional 3D tools like SP3D, PDMS, and E3D.
• Knowledge of BIM workflows and clash detection using Navisworks Manage.
• Experience in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000) is a plus.
• Exposure to Oil & Gas, Infrastructure, or Industrial projects.
