Role Purpose
The Department Manager is responsible for driving departmental business performance through effective management of retail store operations, team leadership, inventory control, and customer service. The role ensures achievement of sales targets, operational excellence, and shrinkage control while delivering superior customer experience.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
Retail Store Operations Management
· Manage day-to-day store operations ensuring smooth functioning of the department.
· Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, and operational standards.
· Maintain store presentation, merchandising standards, and operational efficiency.
Team Leadership & People Management
· Lead, motivate, and manage the department team to achieve business objectives.
· Conduct daily briefings, allocate tasks, and monitor team performance.
· Support capability building through coaching and on-the-job training.
Sales Target Achievement & Revenue Growth
· Drive departmental sales to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
· Monitor sales trends and implement initiatives to maximize revenue.
· Promote cross-selling and upselling to improve basket value.
Customer Service Excellence
· Ensure high standards of customer service across the department.
· Address customer queries and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
· Build a customer-centric culture within the team.
Inventory & Stock Management
· Ensure optimal stock availability and maintain inventory accuracy.
· Coordinate with supply chain for timely replenishment.
· Monitor stock movement and ensure proper stock rotation.
Loss Prevention & Shrinkage Control
· Implement loss prevention practices to minimize shrinkage.
· Conduct periodic stock audits and ensure compliance with control procedures.
· Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
KPI Monitoring & Reporting
· Track key performance indicators such as sales, productivity, and shrinkage.
· Prepare periodic reports and share insights with store management.
· Drive improvement initiatives based on performance analysis.
