Job Overview

The Junior Trader – Spices – Turmeric role at Reliance Retail is a full-time, mid-level position based in Sangli. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work with the largest retailer in India, focusing on strategic trading, procurement and management of turmeric and other spices. Candidates will be immersed in a dynamic trading environment with opportunities to develop commercial and supply chain acumen.

Qualifications and Skills

• Expertise in turmeric and spices with in-depth knowledge of sourcing, market trends, and trading practices (Mandatory skill).
• Strong experience and demonstrated proficiency in turmeric trading, including an ability to analyze market dynamics and negotiate effectively.
• Prior experience in drafting and reviewing supplier contracts to ensure compliance with internal policies, legal standards, and risk mitigation.
• Solid vendor management skills for building reliable relationships and maintaining high-quality supplier performance across the value chain.
• Data management skills, including tracking inventory, analyzing pricing trends, and using digital tools for effective decision-making.
• Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless logistics and on-time procurement to meet business objectives.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities to interact with manufacturers, farmers, and merchants involved in spice trading.
• Proficient in preparing reports, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards in the turmeric sector.
• Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in spices, with an emphasis on turmeric as a crucial commodity within the retail supply chain (Mandatory skill).

Roles and Responsibilities

• Source, negotiate, and trade turmeric and related spices from suppliers, ensuring timely procurement and quality standards.
• Draft and review supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with legal, commercial, and company-specific requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, manufacturers, and farmers, fostering supply chain efficiency and partnership.
• Analyze market trends, pricing, and inventory levels to make informed trading and purchasing decisions in alignment with company objectives.
• Oversee all aspects of vendor management, including supplier evaluation, performance monitoring, and dispute resolution.
• Manage and maintain accurate data relating to procurement, trading volumes, and market analysis for periodic reporting.
• Coordinate with logistics, quality assurance, and warehouse teams for timely delivery and adherence to quality parameters.
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, ensuring business continuity and compliance with regulatory policies.
