Job Overview

The Department Manager GM will be responsible for overseeing general merchandise operations at the Idukki location. This mid-level, full-time position is ideal for candidates with a maximum of 6 years of relevant experience. The role focuses on leading store teams, driving sales, optimizing processes, and ensuring the highest standards of customer service within the retail environment.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership, motivating and directing staff to achieve performance goals and maintain high morale (Mandatory skill).
  • Strong background in retail operations, including store management, merchandising, and process optimization to improve productivity and efficiency (Mandatory skill).
  • Proficiency in customer relationship management, resolving customer queries promptly and ensuring superior service delivery to enhance loyalty.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing sales strategies to meet or exceed sales targets, analyzing market trends, and driving revenue growth.
  • Ability to design and conduct staff training programs, ensuring workforce skill enhancement and compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Hands-on experience in loss prevention strategies, identifying potential risks and implementing measures to minimize shrinkage and inventory loss.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills necessary for building strong working relationships with team members, peers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to data-driven decision-making to optimize inventory, sales, and customer satisfaction.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate the general merchandise team to achieve departmental goals and ensure seamless daily operations.
  • Oversee inventory management including stock replenishment, display standards, and coordination with supply chain teams for timely deliveries.
  • Implement effective sales and promotional strategies to drive footfalls, increase conversions, and maximize overall store performance.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service by resolving concerns, providing product information, and fostering a customer-centric environment.
  • Monitor and control shrinkage by enforcing loss prevention protocols and conducting regular audits to ensure asset protection.
  • Train and develop staff, facilitating continuous learning and adherence to company policies and quality standards.
  • Analyze sales reports, consumer feedback, and competitor trends to recommend improvements and capitalize on business opportunities.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, health, and safety regulations, and support an inclusive, positive workplace culture.
