Job Overview
The Department Manager – Apparel (Junior Level) will oversee the apparel section's operations within Reliance Retail stores in Chennai and Hosur. This is a full-time position responsible for managing visual merchandising, inventory, sales performance, and team effectiveness. The role requires continuously enhancing customer experience and driving sales in a fast-paced retail environment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Deep expertise in visual merchandising (Mandatory skill) is essential for creating attractive, on-brand apparel displays to drive customer engagement and sales.
- Strong product knowledge is needed to help inform customers about apparel features, trends, and benefits, boosting cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
- Proficiency in staff training to ensure the team is equipped with current product insights, customer service techniques, and store policies, promoting high performance.
- Experience in sales analysis to review and interpret sales data, identifying opportunities for growth and areas requiring improvement in the apparel department.
- Competency in inventory management to maintain optimum stock levels, minimize shrinkage, and coordinate regular cycle counts and stock audits.
- Proficiency in stock replenishment practices to ensure the apparel section always has the right products available to maximize selling opportunities.
- Strong customer service orientation to address inquiries, resolve issues, and deliver a pleasant in-store experience for all apparel shoppers.
- Ability to multitask efficiently, prioritize departmental operations, and adapt quickly to evolving business needs in a busy retail environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Implement creative and effective visual merchandising strategies for the apparel section to maximize customer interest and drive sales.
- Lead, coach, and motivate the departmental team, ensuring high performance and adherence to store standards and company policies.
- Analyze sales and inventory reports, monitor key performance indicators, and take proactive steps to drive topline growth and operational efficiency.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels by coordinating timely stock replenishments, minimizing out-of-stock scenarios, and reducing excess inventory.
- Deliver superior customer service by promptly addressing queries and complaints to enhance the overall customer shopping experience.
- Train team members on new products, sales techniques, and customer engagement, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and empowerment.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and hygiene standards across the department and report any issues to store management as required.
- Support store-level marketing events and promotions, collaborating with management to achieve departmental sales targets.
