Job Overview

The CC Buyer - Fruits & Vegetables role at Reliance Retail is a junior-level, full-time position based across Kharupatia, Pithora, Indore, Siliguri, Sultanpur Lodhi, and Haldwani. The role focuses on the end-to-end procurement, sourcing, and buying of fruits and vegetables to ensure high-quality supply for the company's vast retail network, supporting operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven expertise in dealing with fruits (Mandatory skill), ensuring the ability to evaluate quality, freshness, and suppliers effectively for high-volume procurement.
• Experience and in-depth understanding of sourcing and handling vegetables (Mandatory skill), critical for selecting, negotiating, and maintaining supplier relationships.
• Strong background in grocery procurement, with the capacity to support and integrate sourcing strategies across diverse product categories and supply channels.
• Solid knowledge of agriculture best practices, crop seasonality, and supply-demand trends to make informed purchasing decisions that optimize product quality and cost.
• Effective sourcing abilities, including identifying reliable vendors, conducting market analysis, and negotiating favorable terms to sustain continuity and quality in the supply chain.
• Experience in buying processes within the retail sector, with attention to purchase order management, pricing, and inventory planning to meet business targets and reduce waste.
• Ability to assimilate and analyze market information, consumer preferences, and competitor activities to make data-driven and strategic purchasing decisions.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills for building and nurturing relationships with farmers, traders, and logistics partners, ensuring seamless procurement activities and resolution of any supply disruptions.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard fruit and vegetable suppliers to ensure reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective sourcing for the retail network.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with farmers, aggregators, and vendors to achieve procurement objectives aligned with company policies and standards.
• Monitor market trends, product availability, and price fluctuations to make timely buying decisions and maximize value for both the company and its customers.
• Collaborate with logistics, supply chain, and store operations teams to ensure timely deliveries and minimize spoilage or wastage across all locations.
• Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, quality inspections, and supplier performance to support audit and compliance requirements.
• Ensure adherence to strict quality and food safety standards, conducting regular checks to guarantee that fruits and vegetables meet Reliance Retail’s requirements.
• Use data analytics and reports to review buying efficiency, identify gaps, improve procurement processes, and develop actionable plans for business growth.
• Contribute to process improvements by suggesting innovative sourcing strategies, participating in training, and sharing market insights with teams and management.
