Design Engineer – Plumbing

Role:

The Design Engineer – Plumbing is responsible for the planning, coordination, and technical review of all plumbing systems for large public-space development projects. This includes water supply and distribution, drainage, sewage, rainwater harvesting, stormwater management, plumbing fixtures, and backflow prevention systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with external MEP consultants to oversee detailed plumbing designs, ensuring solutions comply with safety regulations, sustainability goals, water efficiency, and maintainability. Responsibilities also include ensuring all plumbing layouts are coordinated with civil, landscape, and electrical systems for optimal integration and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and validate detailed plumbing design drawings, schematics, isometric layouts, and pipe sizing calculations.
• Design water supply, distribution systems, sanitary drainage, stormwater, rainwater harvesting, and greywater recycling systems.
• Conduct hydraulic calculations, flow rate sizing, pump selection, and system pressure analysis.
• Coordinate with architects, structural, civil, and MEP teams to deliver integrated plumbing solutions.
• Ensure compliance with local plumbing codes, IS standards, NBC, and sustainability requirements.
• Oversee and manage MEP consultants throughout the plumbing design process.
• Review vendor submissions and equipment specifications for technical accuracy and compliance.
• Support the preparation of BOQ, specifications, and tender documentation for plumbing works.
• Lead design reviews, technical meetings, and value engineering exercises for plumbing systems.
• Ensure proper documentation of drawings, calculations, and design modifications as per QA/QC standards.
• Knowledge in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, MS Office, and plumbing calculation tools.
• Experience in sustainable water management practices and green building certifications.
• Familiarity with coordination processes involving BIM and clash detection tools.

Education Qualifications

·        Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or relevant field.

·        Certification in green building or plumbing associations (preferred).

Experience Required

·        10+ years of experience in plumbing design, water supply systems, and sustainable water management.

·        Experience with large-scale infrastructure or public projects is desirable.
