SECTION I: BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE JOB ROLE

SECTION II: PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To deploy reliability engineering strategies and manage Risk based inspection (RBI) program / Corrosion impact studies for static equipment so as to ensure equipment availability and operational efficiency as per overall established CES guidelines & operations mandate
SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE
Responsibilities
Policies, Processes and Procedures
- Assist in formulation of static discipline's plan and ensure day-to-day execution in line with functional standards & regulations
- Implement policies, processes, and procedures covering all areas of static engineering and maintenance related activities and ensure adherence to relevant procedural / legislative requirements while delivering high quality and cost-effective results
Engineering & Reliability assurance :
- Drive critical root cause analysis & troubleshooting activities of corrosion issues in static equipment and provide technical recommendations to avoid recurrence. Be part of “Medium” and “High” criticality root-cause analysis of all corrosion related failures in plants and initiate LFIs .
- Lead and co-ordinate base line RBI implementation activity and ensure periodic Evergreening of RBI based on inspection cycle .
- Drive preparation of corrosion manuals for each of the process units.
- Ensure updating of corrosion manuals after each major turnaround inspection of process plants and advise inspection team to incorporate changes, if needed, to improve inspection effectiveness.
- Physical Inspection of all equipment / pipelines where corrosion in observed by the Inspection team and make records.
- Assist in fitness for purpose along with respective Inspection and design team.
- Co-ordinate with operations and Technologists for finalizing IOW’s for each of plant. Maintain history of revision of IOW’s based on actual experience.
- Highlight and analyze the deviations (if any) in the IOW’s. Review the same with Operations and Technologists and manage corrective actions and recommendations.
- Drive and Co-ordinate TRIPOD meetings focused on corrosion impact /IOW management .
- Provide short term and long term effects of on-going trends in IOW’s. Review of TRIPOD recommendations and maintain MoM for implementation.
- Lead dedicated corrosion impact studies and provide necessary technical recommendations for metallurgy changes , NDE applications and participate in deciding recommendations where the damage is predominantly based on corrosion.
- Provide inputs to Inspection engineer for plant during maintenance assistance preparation for equipment inspection, based on the expected damages and past repairs. Recommend suitable NDE based on the expected form of damage
- Approve all metallurgy changes / upgrades. Participate in PHA’s for all MoC’s and revision of PHA’s. (As applicable)
- Review of MoC where metallurgy changes / upgrades are being done to improve efficiencies and enhance reliability.
- Co-ordinate material testing of failed components at the outside laboratory to assist in RCA
- Development and application of corrosion models in collaboration with technology /operation teams and external agencies.
- Faculty for basic corrosion courses. Co-ordinate for advanced corrosion courses as applicable. Co-ordinate and participate in yearly intersite meet on technology specific units.
People Management
- Participate in recruitment activities & ensure retention / engagement of own team
- Set performance objectives of own team, evaluate / appraise team members and provide regular feedback & guidance
- Guide, mentor and develop own team to take larger and complex responsibilities
- Evaluate training and development requirements for own team and make recommendations for learning interventions
SECTION VI: KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES
Education Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Metallurgical Engineering or a Master's Degree in Mechanical / Metallurgical Engineering (preferred) - Training in Root cause analysis will be considered as a strong qualification - Certification in API 571 / API 580 and NACE/AMPP corrosion courses will be considered as a strong qualification .
Experience (Must Have & Good to Have)
11 -15 years of experience in managing the reliability, inspection and corrosion monitoring of fixed equipment. Knowledge on various damage mechanisms for Refinery /Petrochemicals and RBI methodology is essential qualification .
