SECTION II: PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To support overall reliability and integrity of all mechanical equipment in plant, and oversee & perform all predictive and preventive mechanical maintenance activities in order to ensure availability of equipment while adhering to RIL policies, safety guidelines, and allocated budgets.
SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE
Responsibilities
Policies, Processes and Procedures
· - Perform maintenance and repair of Fr-9 Gas turbines, Condensing & Back pressure Steam turbines, HRSGs and other BOP mechanical equipment.
· Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
· Troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide quick resolutions to minimize downtime.
· Collaborate with the operations team to improve equipment performance and efficiency.
· Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards during maintenance activities.
· Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and prepare reports as required.
· Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Spares Management -
· Plan, identify, and ensure availability of critical, insurance, and consumable spares for Gas Turbines (Frame-9E), Steam Turbines, HRSG, and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment to support reliable plant operations.
· Review equipment criticality and maintenance plans to define minimum and maximum inventory levels, reorder points, and stocking strategies in coordination with Reliability and Planning teams.
· Initiate Purchase Requisitions (PR) in SAP and follow up with Procurement to ensure timely availability of required spares and avoid maintenance or startup delays.
· Monitor spare parts consumption trends, analyze usage patterns, and optimize inventory to balance plant reliability and inventory carrying costs.
· Ensure proper identification, preservation, storage, and handling of mechanical spares as per OEM recommendations and plant procedures.
· Participate in technical evaluation of vendor offers, spare part specifications, and ensure compliance with OEM standards and plant requirements.
· Maintain accurate spare parts records, history, and documentation in SAP PM module for traceability and future planning.
· Identify and recommend critical and long-lead spares based on equipment reliability analysis, failure history, and commissioning requirements.
· Support emergency spare planning and ensure readiness for forced outages, shutdowns, and major overhauls.
· Coordinate with Stores, Procurement, and OEM/vendors for spare part inspection, verification, and technical clarification.
· Implement spare parts standardization, codification, and inventory optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce downtime risks.
Workplace Safety & Environment
- Follow maintenance related safety, fire and environmental processes and compliance norms and ensure all operations align with the same in order to provide safe working environment to all plant personnel's
- Oversee plant machinery for safety, fire and environmental issues/ hazards pertaining to mechanical maintenance operations, identify root cause and take appropriate steps to mitigate any challenges
- Investigate safety incidents along with safety teams pertaining to mechanical operations, support in drafting action plan and implement the same to ensure non-recurrence
- Assist in emergency operations in case of any safety or fire incidents to ensure quick closure
Key Requirements
· Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a Gas-based power plant.
· Strong understanding of power plant operations and mechanical systems.
· Hands-on experience with tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software (SAP)
· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
· Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the power industry.
Education & Experience: 2 to 5 Years of experience with Full Time BE.
