JOB SUMMARY
Head of Legal will report to the Group CEO or CFO and in this function will provide strategic legal advice for the entire hospital network. This role will involve providing legal advice, risk management, contract governance, regulatory compliance, and litigation management. The Head of Legal will partner with executive leadership to enable safe, compliant, and sustainable growth across all facilities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
1. Provide Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the group-wide legal strategy aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Advise the Group CEO, CFO, CHRO, and executive leadership on material legal, regulatory, and governance issues.
- Drive best-in-class risk management and compliance culture across all hospitals and business units.
2. Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to healthcare laws and regulations pertaining to healthcare compliance, patients, employment laws, clinical trial regulations if relevant, medical device related and other regulatory approvals.
- Oversee data privacy and information security programs; manage data breach response and remediation.
- Maintain and oversee policies and training programs on code of conduct, conflict of interest, whistle blower channels, anti-fraud controls, and health information governance.
3. Contract & Commercial
- Lead negotiations, drafting, and enforcement of major commercial agreements (MSAs, vendor contracts, managed service agreements, affiliation agreements etc.
- Standardize contract templates and other similar contracts.
- Develop playbooks for contract & commercial processes
- Manage procurement, outsourcing, and vendor risk, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives of the organization.
4. Litigation and Dispute Resolution
- Oversee all litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters involving the group.
- Develop dispute avoidance strategies, manage external counsel, and monitor budgets.
- Lead crisis management and incident response for major events impacting hospitals.
5. Corporate Governance & Ethics
- Support the trust and various committees (Audit, Risk, Compliance, Governance) with meeting materials, governance frameworks, and statutory filings.
- Maintain corporate records, board minutes, and statutory registrations across jurisdictions.
- Promote a culture of ethics, integrity, and patient-centered care.
6. Risk Management & Safety
- Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across clinical, operational, and financial activities.
- Advise on patient safety initiatives, malpractice risk, and incident reporting processes.
- Collaborate with clinical governance, risk management, and safety officers to implement corrective actions.
7. Mergers, Acquisitions & Growth
- Lead legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, network integrations, and new market entries.
- Perform due diligence, structure transactions, obtain regulatory approvals, and oversee post-merger integration.
8. People & Leadership
- Build, develop, and retain a high-performing legal team (in-house attorneys, paralegals, compliance professionals).
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Treasury, Procurement, IT, and Operations.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Must have an LLB degree from a recognized institution.
- Experience: 12–15+ years in legal practice, with at least 5 years preferably in healthcare or large organizations.
- Licensing: Must be eligible to practice law in India.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Healthcare regulations and medico-legal frameworks
- Data privacy and digital health laws
- Contract law and corporate governance
- Excellent networking and negotiation skills with proven ability to manage high-level stakeholder relationships.
