Job description
We at Reliance Foundation Hospital are seeking a Engineering Lead to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Engineering & Facilities Management function at our Andheri Unit, ensuring safe, reliable, and uninterrupted functioning of all hospital engineering systems. The role ensures statutory compliance, safety governance, accreditation readiness (NABH/JCI), infrastructure reliability, energy efficiency, and continuous improvement across all engineering services. This role carries significant operational oversight and functional leadership responsibilities.
1. Accountabilities
Engineering Operations & Infrastructure Reliability
- Ensure smooth 24/7 functioning of critical engineering systems including HVAC, MGPS, electrical distribution, DG/UPS, STP/ETP, water systems, lifts, and fire systems.
- Monitor preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure compliance with schedules and minimize breakdowns.
- Ensure plant rooms, utility areas, and engineering infrastructure remain inspection-ready at all times.
Statutory, Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all engineering-related statutory norms (electrical safety, fire NOC, MGPS compliance, PCB norms, lift/boiler certifications).
- Maintain NABH/JCI-aligned documentation such as calibration records, safety logs, equipment checklists, and risk assessments.
- Drive safety compliance through structured inspections, hazard identification, LOTO protocols, and emergency preparedness activities.
Vendor, AMC & Contractor Governance
- Oversee the performance of outsourced agencies and AMC partners across engineering disciplines.
- Support tendering, technical evaluations, SLA governance, contract renewals, and performance reviews.
- Ensure contractors comply with hospital safety standards, especially while working in clinical and patient-care areas.
Infrastructure Maintenance & Asset Lifecycle Management
- Ensure continuous upkeep of civil, electrical, mechanical, and facility assets across all areas of the hospital.
- Review asset health, maintenance history, and propose lifecycle upgrades or replacements.
- Ensure timely closure of engineering-related service requests through CAFM/helpdesk systems.
Energy Management & Sustainability Leadership
- Monitor utility performance and implement energy conservation initiatives across electrical and HVAC systems.
- Lead energy audits, evaluate consumption trends, and drive efficiency projects aligned with sustainability goals.
- Reduce resource wastage and support green initiatives.
Projects, Renovation & Commissioning Support
- Provide technical oversight for expansion, renovation, and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Lead snagging, compliance checks, commissioning validations, and technical handover processes.
- Collaborate with architects, consultants, and project teams to ensure engineering alignment.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Work closely with Operations, Nursing, Quality, Biomedical Engineering, Housekeeping, Infection Control, and Safety teams to support hospital operations.
- Ensure engineering readiness for critical areas like OT, ICU, Radiology, Cath Lab, CSSD, and Emergency.
- Represent engineering in safety committees, hospital emergency drills, and governance meetings.
Reporting, Performance Monitoring & Improvement Initiatives
- Maintain dashboards for uptime, maintenance compliance, utility performance, energy metrics, and safety observations.
- Lead RCA for equipment failures and implement preventive measures.
- Drive continuous improvement through Kaizen/Lean programs and technical standardization.

3. Experience & Educational Requirements
Educational Qualifications
Necessary: B.E./B.Tech Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering
Desirable: M.Tech / MBA (Operations / Facilities / Project Management)
Relevant Experience
Necessary:
12 to 18 years of experience in Engineering & Facilities Management
Strong exposure to hospital infrastructure or mission-critical utilities
Desirable:
Experience in NABH/JCI-accredited hospitals
Experience managing large-scale engineering projects and modernization
