Job Purpose
The Radiology Manager is responsible for managing the overall operations, patient experience, workflow coordination, quality standards, and administrative functions of the Radiology Department. The role ensures smooth functioning of radiology services including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-Ray, and other imaging services while maintaining high standards of patient care, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and team coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Coordinate and manage daily operations of the Radiology Department to ensure smooth workflow and optimum utilization of resources.
- Oversee scheduling and appointment management for CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Imaging-guided procedures, and X-Ray services.
- Monitor turnaround time (TAT) and patient wait times to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Ensure adherence to departmental SOPs,workflow protocols, and operational standards.
- Maintain uninterrupted functioning of HIS/SAP systems and ensure backup plans during downtime.
- Coordinate with consultants, radiologists,clinicians,nursing teams, and technicians for seamless patient care delivery.
- Ensure all documentation, consents,billing,and records are completed accurately and within defined timelines.
Patient Experience & Service Excellence
- Drive patient-centric service delivery across the Radiology Department.
- Ensure patients and families receive clear communication regarding radiology procedures and services.
- Handle patient grievances, concerns, and escalation management effectively and promptly.
- Improve patient satisfaction scores and Net Promoter Scores (NPS) through service excellence initiatives.
- Support implementation of customer care and patient engagement programs
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with NABH, JCI, infection control,radiation safety, and hospital quality standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental audits.
- Monitor adherence to quality indicators,billing compliance, and service standards.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Support implementation and updation of departmental policies and SOPs.
Team Coordination & Leadership
- Coordinate with radiologists, technicians, nursing staff, and administrative teams to maintain effective department functioning.
- Provide guidance and operational support to departmental staff.
- Ensure adequate coverage during staff absence whenever required.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning within the department.
Training, Research & Development
- Coordinate departmental CMEs, conferences,symposiums, and training activities.
- Assist in preparation of departmental presentations, reports, and publications.
- Participate in professional development programs and continuous learning initiatives.
- Recommend process improvements and innovative ideas to enhance departmental services.
Educational Qualifications
Required
- Graduate in Healthcare / Hospital Administration / Science / Allied Health OR
- Degree / Diploma in Radiation Technology or relevant healthcare discipline
Preferred
- Certification in Hospital Administration /Radiology Operations / Medical Transcription
- Training in MS Office and Hospital Information Systems (HIS)
Experience Required
- 10 to 18 years of relevant hospital experience in Radiology Operations, Diagnostics, or Healthcare Administration.
- Prior experience in managing radiology workflows and patient coordination in a hospital setup preferred.
