Job Overview

The CSSD Technician will play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of sterilization and infection control at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital & Research Centre. This full-time, mid-level position is based in Jamnagar and requires 4 to 6 years of relevant experience. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring efficient and safe operations within the Central Sterile Supply Department.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven expertise in sterilization techniques, ensuring proper decontamination and processing of medical equipment (Mandatory skill).
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with instrument decontamination procedures and protocols within a hospital setting (Mandatory skill).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating and maintaining autoclaves and other sterilization equipment with accuracy and diligence (Mandatory skill).
  • Comprehensive understanding of infection control practices and their critical application in the CSSD workflow for patient safety.
  • Ability to effectively manage and maintain inventory of sterile and non-sterile instruments, supplies, and consumables for department needs.
  • Experience implementing and monitoring quality assurance measures to comply with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Competence in CSSD workflow management, including handling instrument tracking, documentation, and adherence to set timelines.
  • Strong collaborative skills for effective communication with other hospital departments to coordinate timely delivery and retrieval of sterilized items.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform all stages of decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, labeling, and sterilization of surgical and clinical instruments according to hospital protocols.
  • Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment safely, following established cycles and maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor and document sterilization processes, ensuring compliance with infection control standards and accurate record keeping.
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels of sterile supplies, tracking stock usage and reporting shortages or malfunctions promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to guidelines for the receipt, storage, distribution, and retrieval of medical equipment and supplies within the CSSD.
  • Support quality assurance activities such as validation of sterilization, biological testing, and internal audits to uphold safety and efficacy.
  • Coordinate with operating rooms and clinical units for timely delivery and collection of sterile items and urgent requests.
  • Participate actively in training, department meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing CSSD operations and outcomes.
