Brief Job Description for Reference -
Key Responsibilities: Service
- Assist Medical Director / HOD in formulating departmental policies and procedures as and when required
- Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, resident doctors, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff
- Participate in clinical education, research, test medication, clinical tests to advance the practice of medicine as well as academic and teaching activities as required by the DNB or any Fellowship programs
- Participate in interdepartmental meetings, committees and fulfill the all the responsibilities as assigned
- Plan, and participate in health programs in the hospital
- Comply with CME credits as per MMC registrations and guidelines in vogue
- Any other responsibility as assigned by the organization on the need basis
Operations Theatre
- Treat patients in OT, admit, carry out Pre Anesthesia Check 1 (PAC1) & Pre Anesthesia Check 2 (PAC2) procedures (if applicable) as per the approved clinical privileges within the organization and treatment procedures
- Collate and analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to plan Anesthesia for patient in PAC1 & PAC2
- Explain procedures and anesthesia method with patient and family
- Monitor patients' condition and progress in Operation Room. Refer patient to other Specialist as and when required after due intimation and explanation to patient / family
- Identify patient's risk status and recommend appropriate intervention to minimize risk and take necessary informal consent for the same
Perioperative care -
- Is the primary care giver to children in the ICU before and after pediatric and congenital heart surgery and interventions
- Evolve protocols / practices and sustain the high standard of care
- Collate and analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information periodically to maintain, improvise the standard of care
- Prescribe or administer medication, therapy, and other specialized comprehensive critical care to treat / prevent / limit illness, disease, or injury identifying patient's risk status and recommending appropriate intervention to minimize risk
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patient and family on regular basis every 12 hours. Refer/ coordinate and collaborate patient care with other specialists as and when required after due intimation and explanation to patient / family
- Monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary. Refer patient to other Specialist as and when required after due intimation and explanation to patient / family
- Work collaboratively with other disciplines and health professionals to develop effective and appropriate multidisciplinary approach and patient care
- Participate and conduct daily grand rounds that facilitates superior standard of care, update and further learning and meets treatment objectives
- Ensure accurate exchange of information during care transition and transfer of patients ensuring patient confidentiality at all the times
- Promote use of evidence based practice and to ensure patient safety
- Be available to consult with medical staff by telephone or be called back if the situation demands and asses referrals from the EMS
- Take responsibility of individual organ care
- To be available for all exigencies in case of any adverse events in the ICU
