This role is responsible for overseeing all phases of project delivery—from technology licensing, FEED (Front-End Engineering Design), detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, to closeout—ensuring cost efficiency, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout the entire EPC lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead CAPEX planning, budgeting, and financial control for bioenergy projects with a focus on engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
  2. Manage technology licensing agreements and collaborate with licensors to ensure technology transfer aligns with project timelines and quality standards.
  3. Oversee FEED and detailed engineering processes, coordinating design engineering teams and external consultants to deliver fit-for-purpose, cost-effective solutions.
  4. Develop and implement procurement strategies including vendor evaluation, selection, contract negotiation, and management to optimize costs and ensure timely availability of materials and services.
  5. Supervise construction and commissioning activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules, safety protocols, quality standards, and budget constraints.
  6. Enforce strict safety, quality assurance, and environmental compliance throughout project execution, ensuring zero incidents and audit readiness.
  7. Drive vendor management initiatives to ensure performance, compliance, and risk mitigation across all contractors and suppliers involved in the EPC process.
  8. Coordinate cross-functional teams including project management, engineering, finance, legal, and operations to ensure seamless project delivery and stakeholder alignment.
  9. Conduct comprehensive financial due diligence and risk assessments on all projects prior to investment approval and continuously throughout the project lifecycle.
  10. Facilitate regular project review meetings to monitor progress, manage risks, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory frameworks.
  11. Lead continuous improvement efforts focusing on EPC process optimization, cost control, technology evaluation, and lessons learned.
  12. Provide accurate and timely reports on project status, CAPEX performance, risks, and compliance to senior management and the board.

Critical Competencies:

  1. Expertise in managing large-scale CAPEX projects within bioenergy or related heavy industrial sectors, including technology licensing and EPC execution.
  2. Strong knowledge of FEED, detailed engineering, construction management, commissioning, and technology evaluation.
  3. Proven skills in procurement strategy, vendor negotiation, contract management, and supply chain coordination.
  4. Deep understanding of safety standards, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance applicable to bioenergy projects.
  5. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills to manage multi-disciplinary teams and external partners.
  6.  Ability to drive financial discipline, cost optimization, and risk mitigation across complex projects.

Ideal Background:

  1. Engineering degree with MBA. Project finance expertise preferred.
  2. 20+ years experience in managing end-to-end EPC projects, preferably in Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, renewable energy, or heavy industrial sectors.
  3. Demonstrated experience in technology licensing, FEED management, procurement, construction, and commissioning of large-scale projects.
  4. Strong track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and meeting safety and quality benchmarks.
