Job Overview

We are seeking a Backend Engineer for a full-time role at Proof-of-Skill. This is a remote role. You will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable backend systems that power our assessment platform, ensuring reliability, performance, and security.

Qualifications and Skills

Strong understanding of backend development concepts and system design

Proficiency in at least one backend language (Node.js, Python, Java, or Go)

Familiarity with building and consuming REST APIs

Basic understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB)

Knowledge of version control systems like Git

Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus

Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Self-driven with high ownership in a remote setup

Willingness to learn, adapt, and improve systems based on feedback

Roles and Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs

Build scalable systems to support real-world assessments on the platform

Optimize application performance and database queries

Ensure security and data protection across backend systems

Collaborate with frontend, product, and design teams

Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues

Write clean, testable, and well-documented code

Contribute to architecture decisions and technical improvements
