The Academic Counselor will play a key role in guiding and supporting students through their academic journey. This full-time, mid-level role is based in Jaipur and requires 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience. The position focuses on providing expert academic advising, building effective student relationships, and ensuring successful outcomes for individuals seeking academic or career support.
Qualifications and Skills
- Student Advising (Mandatory skill): Demonstrated experience in guiding students with academic decisions, course selections, and educational paths.
- Academic Planning (Mandatory skill): Proficiency in creating personalized academic plans tailored to students' goals, abilities, and progress.
- Counseling (Mandatory skill): Strong background in academic counseling to help students overcome challenges and maximize their potential.
- Student Retention: Proven record in developing strategies to increase student engagement and retention through targeted interventions.
- Case Management: Experience managing student cases, tracking progress, and ensuring timely resolution of academic issues.
- Conflict Resolution: Ability to mediate disputes and provide solutions involving students, faculty, and administration as needed.
- Public Speaking: Confidently present academic programs and support services in group settings, workshops, and orientation events.
- Excellent communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to convey guidance, support, and feedback effectively to students and stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive academic counseling to students, guiding them through program options, requirements, and academic policies.
- Develop individualized academic plans by assessing students’ backgrounds, aspirations, and abilities to ensure academic success.
- Monitor student progress and offer timely interventions for those facing academic difficulties or uncertainties.
- Facilitate workshops and informational sessions to support student awareness on academic planning, career pathways, and development activities.
- Maintain detailed records of counseling sessions, student plans, and follow-ups to ensure continuity and effective case management.
- Work collaboratively with faculty and administrative departments to resolve student issues and advocate for student needs.
- Support student retention initiatives through proactive engagement and development of supportive resources and communities.
- Address student concerns, mediate academic conflicts, and recommend solutions in line with institutional policies and procedures.
