Key Responsibilities

  • Assist ophthalmologists during surgical procedures.

  • Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment such as tonometers and visual field analyzers.
  • Collect and record patient histories and relevant information.
  • Provide patient education on eye health and procedures.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and patient follow-ups.
  • Assist in the preparation and sterilization of surgical instruments.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Document and maintain accurate patient records in compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct contact lens fittings and training.
  • Monitor and assess post-operative patients.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and equipment within the ophthalmology department.
  • Support research activities by assisting with data collection and analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed a Diploma or Bachelor degree in Ophthalmic Technology.
  • Certification and licensure in Ophthalmic Technology preferred.
  • Knowledge of ocular anatomy and physiology.
  • Familiarity with various ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience in a clinical or hospital setting is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of basic optometry principles.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with patients and team members.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical practices.
  • Adequate physical stamina to perform clinical duties.
  • Knowledge of risk management and safety protocols.
