The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to define system architecture, ensure hardware-software integration, and lead the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

1. New Product Development (NPD) Leadership:

  • Lead the design and development of next-generation embedded products.
  • Define technical requirements, architecture, and design strategy for NPD projects.
  • Drive the prototype-to-production lifecycle, ensuring manufacturability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with product management, mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
  • Evaluate new technologies, sensors, MCUs/MPUs, and embedded platforms for innovation.

2. Embedded Software Development:

  • Develop firmware using C, C++, Python, and RTOS/Linux-based platforms.
  • Implement real-time control algorithms, low-power optimization, and device drivers.
  • Work with wireless communication protocols (BLE, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, LoRa, NB-IoT, CAN, UART, SPI, I2C).
  • Optimize embedded software for performance, power efficiency, and security.
  • Develop bootloaders, over-the-air (OTA) update mechanisms, and fail-safe firmware.

3. Embedded Hardware Development:

  • Design and develop PCBs, microcontroller-based circuits, and high-speed digital interfaces.
  • Select components (MCUs, MPUs, FPGAs, sensors, communication modules, power circuits).
  • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, signal integrity analysis, and hardware debugging.
  • Ensure compliance with EMI/EMC, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Work closely with manufacturers and suppliers for DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Testability).

4. System Architecture & Integration:

  • Define hardware-software co-design strategies for optimal system performance.
  • Work on edge computing, AI/ML inference on embedded platforms, and cloud connectivity.
  • Develop secure embedded solutions with encryption, authentication, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation.

5. Testing, Debugging & Compliance:

  • Lead hardware and firmware validation, ensuring reliability under real-world conditions.
  • Perform debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG debuggers, and emulators.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 (Automotive), IEC 62304 (Medical), FCC, CE, RoHS, UL standards.
  • Develop test plans, automation scripts, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations.

6. Team Leadership & Project Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of hardware and firmware engineers in NPD projects.
  • Drive agile development methodologies, sprints, and milestone-based execution.
  • Work with stakeholders to define product roadmaps, timelines, and technical feasibility.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contract manufacturers, and R&D partners.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • X+ years of experience in embedded hardware and software development.
  • Strong expertise in microcontrollers (ARM Cortex, STM32, ESP32, PIC, AVR, etc.).
  • Experience with PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, Eagle, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics).
  • Proficiency in low-power embedded design, power management, and battery-operated systems.
  • Experience with machine learning at the edge, sensor fusion, and real-time processing.
  • Knowledge of cloud-integrated IoT devices (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT).
  • Strong debugging skills using hardware and software debugging tools.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity in embedded systems.
  • Exposure to functional safety (ISO 26262, IEC 61508) and automotive/medical/industrial regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in automotive, industrial automation, consumer electronics, medical devices, IoT.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML models on edge devices.
  • Knowledge of thermal design, ruggedized enclosures, and harsh environment testing.

Compensation & Benefits:
