Primary Responsibilities

●     Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.

●     Treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.

●     Provide training and education to family/caregivers and others.

●     Work collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines.

●     Combining traditional therapies with new and innovative techniques.

●     Using standardized assessments to monitor progress at regular intervals and review treatment plans where necessary.

●     Motivating patients, especially when progress is slow, to stick to the treatment plan and provide evidence when they seem despondent.

●     Maintaining patient databases and meticulously updating medical records.

●     Establishing networks with other speech-language pathologists and healthcare professionals by attending regular conferences and professional events.

●     Staying abreast of developments in speech-language pathology and in the broader medical field.

●     Teach preventive strategies to family members on choking and aspiration
