Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced SQL Server SME & Database Architect with deep expertise in SQL Server engineering, performance tuning, cloud migration, and enterprise database architecture. The candidate will be responsible for designing scalable, secure, and high‑availability database platforms along with hands‑on ownership of production systems.

Key Responsibilities

SQL Server SME Responsibilities

1. Install and configure SQL Server in standalone and cluster environments.
2. Manage complete Backup & Recovery strategy, including point‑in‑time restore and disaster scenarios.
3. Implement and manage database security policies, auditing, and access controls.
4. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot High Availability technologies such as AlwaysOn, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, Mirroring, and Replication.
5. Conduct performance monitoring, query tuning, index optimization, deadlock analysis, and resource utilization improvements.
6. Troubleshoot complex production issues involving SQL Server, Windows, networking, or storage.
7. Manage SQL Server databases across Dev, QA, Pre‑Prod, and Production environments.
8. Configure and maintain database servers, monitor system health, and ensure optimal performance and uptime.
9. Automate routine DBA tasks, maintain documentation, and track environment changes.
10. Assist developers with complex queries, schema design, and execution plan analysis.
11. Provide 24x7 on‑call support for critical production workloads.
12. Support release deployments, patching, upgrades, and planned maintenance activities.
13. Work with Windows Server components including Active Directory, clustering, and storage.
14. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
15. Work independently, handle multiple tasks, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
16. Basic working knowledge of Azure, AWS, and GCP cloud environments.
17. Perform database backups to Azure Blob storage and handle cloud‑storage integration.
18. Deep expertise in SQL Server Execution Plans & troubleshooting methodologies.
19. Hands‑on experience with SQL Server 2019 & 2022 features.
20. Experience in database consolidation, migration planning, and SQL Server licensing models.
21. Working experience with Azure SQL & migration from on‑prem to cloud platforms.

Database Architect Responsibilities

1. Design and architect end‑to‑end database solutions ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
2. Develop logical/physical data models, partitioning strategies, indexing frameworks, and storage planning.
3. Define standards for database design, coding, deployment, automation, and monitoring.
4. Architect cloud‑ready and hybrid database solutions leveraging Azure SQL, SQL Managed Instance, or cloud VMs.
5. Lead large‑scale migration initiatives (lift‑and‑shift, re‑platform, modernization).
6. Define database governance, backup/retention policies, DR/BCP frameworks, and compliance requirements.
7. Collaborate with infra, network, cloud, and development teams to create cohesive enterprise solutions.

Qualification: B.Tech/B.E/MSc IT/MCA with 60% throughout in academics.

Location: Pune/Mumbai/Delhi/Bangalore

Experience: 15-20 Yrs.
