Job Title: Senior Database Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Specialist with expertise in performance optimization, particularly in handling big data and larger data sets. As a senior Database Specialist, you will be responsible for fine-tuning and enhancing the performance of our databases, ensuring efficient data retrieval and storage, and maintaining the overall health and reliability of our system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and understand performance bottlenecks in the existing database infrastructure.
• Design and implement strategies to optimize data retrieval, storage, and processing, with a focus on handling large-scale data sets.
• Utilize SQL, MySQL, and Postgres to develop and optimize complex database queries for enhanced performance.
• Monitor database performance regularly, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues before they impact system performance.
• Work closely with the development team to understand application requirements and provide expert advice on database design and optimization.
• Implement and maintain indexing, partitioning, and caching mechanisms to improve query performance and reduce response times.
• Familiarity with AWS and RDS, and ability to leverage these technologies to optimize database performance in a cloud-based environment.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to performance optimization processes, best practices, and standard operating procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in SQL, MySQL, and Postgres.
• Proven experience in optimizing database performance in high-traffic and large-scale environments.
• Solid understanding of database indexing, partitioning, and caching techniques.
• Familiarity with AWS services, particularly RDS, and ability to leverage cloud-based tools to enhance database performance is a plus
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and address performance issues efficiently.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively in a team environment.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with NoSQL databases and other data storage technologies.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and practices.
• Certification in relevant database technologies or cloud platforms.
