Profile - Mechanical Operation & Maintenance Manager / Head (Shunting Locomotive)

Qualification - B.Tech / M.Tech / Diploma- mech.

Salary - Upto 18 LPA

Experience - Min. 8+ yrs. in locomotive , Port Cranes service industry (Proven experience in locomotive operations, maintenance, or a related field. Strong understanding of locomotive systems and rail safety regulations. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in technology used in locomotive operations. Knowledge of Industrial safety & work safety.)

(Familiarity with industry standards, including IMO, SOLAS, and MARPOL regulations.)

Job Description

Position Summary :

 The Mechanical Locomotive Operation Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of locomotive fleets. This role ensures that locomotives are operated safely and efficiently, coordinating maintenance schedules, managing staff, and adhering to regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of locomotive systems, and Knowledge of rail safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities :

Supervise the daily operations of locomotives, including scheduling, routing, mechanical operation & maintenance.

Ensure that locomotives are operated in safety regulations & company policies.

Maintenance Management:

Develop & oversee mechanical maintenance schedules to ensure locomotives are kept in optimal condition.

Coordinate with the maintenance team to address any mechanical issues or repairs needed.

Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime & extend locomotive lifespan. Record maintenance of fuel consumption.

Recruit, train, and manage locomotive operators and support staff.

Ensure compliance with all national, state, and local regulations regarding locomotive operations at plant & Docks.

Develop and implement strategies for optimizing locomotive utilization and reducing operational costs.

Interface with clients, customers, and other stakeholders to address any concerns or issues related to locomotive services.

Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on locomotive performance and operational challenges.
