Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Head of Maintenance to lead and manage the maintenance function for a large-scale machine shop with over 100 CNC machines. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on technical expertise, leadership skills, and proven ability to implement preventive maintenance, automation, and digitization initiatives to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the maintenance department, working closely with the Assistant Head of Maintenance and a team of technicians.
• Manage preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of CNC machines (VMC, Makino, ACE, BFW, etc.) and other shop-floor equipment.
• Ensure optimal availability and performance of machines used in cast iron machining (20–80 kg components).
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, spare management systems, and AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts).
• Drive automation and digitization initiatives for efficiency improvements.
• Ensure adherence to lean principles, machine layout planning, and continuous process improvements.
• Troubleshoot machine problems, apply logical engineering skills, and ensure quick resolution.
• Train and mentor maintenance staff, building strong technical and team competencies.
• Monitor maintenance budgets, optimize costs, and manage vendor relationships.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and statutory requirements.

Key Requirements:

• Education: Diploma / Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience: 15+ years in maintenance of CNC machines in a large-scale machine shop environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of CNC machinery, automation systems, and machining processes.
• Hands-on experience with spare management, preventive maintenance, and machine logic understanding.
• Exposure to machining of cast iron components (20–80 kg).
• Proficiency in lean practices, shop-floor layout, and process automation.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills.

Languages: Hindi / Bengali (preferred).

Preferred Skills:

Strong understanding of VMC, Makino, ACE, BFW machines.

Experience in automation, digitization, and use of maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Ability to design and execute machine shop layout improvements.
