- Assembly: Fitters assemble and disassemble mechanical systems and equipment

- Repair: Fitters repair worn or faulty mechanical components and equipment
- Installation: Fitters install, fabricate, and maintain mechanical piping systems
- Troubleshooting: Fitters identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Safety: Fitters adhere to safety regulations and procedures
- Quality control: Fitters inspect equipment for safety and quality control
