Senior-level Electrical Engineer / Lead
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior-level Electrical & Electronics Design Lead with 10-15 years of experience to design and develop various products for Fire Safety industry, including UL864-compliant off-line Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) for deployment across fire detection and protection products, Communication boards with both wired and wireless interfaces, Microprocessor and Microcontroller based boards that run the business logic and maintain the overall functioning of the entire fire detection and protection system.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in analog and digital design, power electronics, including off-line switching power supplies, battery chargers, and regulatory compliance for UL and FCC standards. This role entails end-to-end system design, from architecture, design, component selection to schematic, BOM and PCB layout creation, prototyping, validation and full system integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Lead Mixed-Signal design projects, including microcontrollers and microprocessors, AC-DC and DC-DC power converters and communication interfaces
- Design wired and wireless networking interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-232/485, TCP/IP, BLE, LoRaWAN, Zigbee, Sub-1GHz
- Design high-efficiency, fan-less off-line switching power supplies (QR/LLC topology) with universal input (85–264VAC)
- Design and deploy passive and active Power Factor Correction (PFC) techniques in SMPS
- Design magnetics and passive thermal solutions to meet UL864 and FCC Part 15 Class A standards
- Design battery charging, monitoring and safety systems for Sealed Lead-Acid and Lithium-Ion battery packs
- Analyze power budgeting to derive the right specs for component selection
- Conduct Stress analysis and Worst-Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) to assess design reliability
- Conduct Reliability analysis to derive MTBF and MTTF at product level
- Conduct DFMEA and FMEDA to assess impact of component failures and devise schemes to safely handle failures
- Design self-diagnostics techniques to enable fault detection and reporting
- Develop schematics, lead component selection and BOM creation, and manage PCB layouts
- Manage product prototyping and functional validation – board bring-up, EVT, DVT, PVT
- Manage compliance-in-design for UL864 and FCC part 15 requirements
- Plan for and conduct EMC and regulatory testing – Conducted and Radiated Emissions and Immunity, Transients & Surge, Voltage Interruptions, Safety Isolations, and Environmental tests
- Plan for and support in UL864 and other certifications
- Ensure compliance with the defined Product Development lifecycle processes
- Interface with international clients for status reporting, design reviews and project delivery
- Performs all other duties assigned, including team management and process compliance
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or Electronics Engineering or related field
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with multiple EDA tools, primarily with Altium Designer
- Simulation experience (LTspice, PLECS, or equivalent)
- Prior experience designing Fire Safety or Life-Safety systems
- Independent project management and problem-solving skills
