Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Elixir full-stack engineer to improve our client's cloud-based services. They are currently building desktop and mobile applications used by thousands of students across Japan and are looking to expand their team to continue to grow the value of their services.

The desktop application runs on Elixir and Phoenix LiveView, and the mobile application runs on React Native. While our client's activities are diverse, their main focus is in the area of human resources. They are always trying to find better solutions to help students find their dream jobs and companies find the best candidates. They are looking for people who share our aptitude for the job to develop smart and well-designed applications for their clients.

Project Challenges

One of the projects they are currently working on seeks to innovate the way college students bond over shared interests and connect with relevant customers. These projects require the use of the latest technology to solve problems and implement features.

Business Description

• Provide web-based software using Elixir and Phoenix LiveView.
• Investigate solutions to problems.
• Work with the team to develop and deliver features in an agile environment.
• Work with the team as well as independently to improve knowledge.
• Mentor junior staff.

Eligibility Criteria

• English language skills (Japanese is not required).
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of recent commercial programming experience, with an emphasis on delivering solutions using the Elixir programming language.
• Expert understanding of a wide range of web technologies, service design and delivery, data structures, and GraphQL APIs.
• Expert understanding of back-end web technologies, especially Elixir and Phoenix.
• Significant experience with Phoenix LiveView.
• Ability to implement UI from design and be comfortable with CSS.
• Demonstrable experience in software testing and quality assurance.

Residency Requirements

• Remote contract work is available until the visa is ready.
• Visa sponsorship (after 6 months probationary period)
• 1 hour of 1-1 Japanese language lessons every week (for non-Japanese)
