Patient handling:<ul><li>Oversee all the cancer patients that visit the centre for out-patient consultations as well as in-patient treatment.</li><li>Facilitate digital consultations with treating oncologists</li><li>Undertake specific medical procedures on patients as requested by oncologists, or in support of nursing and other clinical staff, for example:</li><li>Siting of intravenous cannulas and commencing intravenous infusions</li><li>Urinary catheterisations – urethral</li><li>Administration of intravenous drugs</li><li>ECG</li><li>Phlebotomy and arterial blood gas sampling.</li><li>Write detailed medical notes on all patients attended in accordance with best practice for record keeping.</li><li>Respond promptly to the request of consultant oncologists and nursing staff to attend any patient within the clinic, and to initiate or advise on treatment as indicated.</li></ul>Emergency management:<ul><li>Provide medical cover and manage any adverse events that are seen in cancer patients in consultation with the treating oncologist.</li><li>To be familiar with the location and use of emergency resuscitation equipment and emergency ICU referral protocol.</li><li>Demonstrate competency in Adult Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support [ALS/ACLS] skills</li><li>In an emergency, undertake investigations and procedures in accordance with policies and protocols and/or as directed by the treating oncologist.</li></ul>Skills Required:<ul><li>Good communication skills, patience and energy along with ability to converse fluently in English, Hindi and Telugu.</li><li>Must be well organized and plan ahead to deal with issues as they arise.</li><li>Must proactively identify potential problems and act to mitigate them.</li><li>Must be conscientious and check own work thoroughly for errors/omissions.</li><li>Must be flexible and able to adapt their approach to fit with changing conditions, tasks, responsibilities or people.</li><li>Must be able to cooperate and work closely with other members of staff.</li></ul>
